In my project Hybrids, I have created fantastical hybrid human/animal creatures. I shoot the photographs in various mediums to build a collection of portraits of each hybrid. The collection is designed to act as “photographic proof” of the existence of these hybrid humans. By documenting something fantastic in a photographic medium, the boundaries of reality and fantasy shift. Through my cast of hybrid human characters, I explore the boundaries set between animal and human and how many individuals within our own species can be considered an ‘other’.
